I asked if I did the wire transfer on my BofA online account would I then be able to see what the rate is and she replied, 'NO.' How the heck do they expect anyone to do Int'l wire transfers if no one knows the exact rate they'll be going by? Anyone else have this experience or know how they do things? How do we know it won't be some ridiculous exchange rate? Their disclaimers aren't very favorable to the person sending money and doesn't really make me feel comfortable in using their services. I only use my mobile account and wire transfers can't be done there so I couldn't see. I asked if their computer (not mobile) login has this option to see exchange rates- they said no. I explained what I meant and she said, I have no clue what that would be but my manager says we go by what Visa says which is usually the rate of the day. One woman I spoke to said "usually there is no exchange rate." Wrong answer lol. Chase Bank money transfer fees depend on the transfer currency. International WireTransfer (send in USD received in foreign currency) 5 per transfer (up to 5000), 0 above 5000. I then called B of A and they had NO CLUE what exchange rates were and how they determine them. International Wire Transfer (sent and received in USD) 40.

TransferWire was excellent with their exchange rate (giving me the exact Reuter's based amount) but had a $200 dollar fee on top of a fee with BofA for me to send the money to their account-double fees no thanks. Seems great, right? As you can imagine exchange rates help determine who you're going to send that money through. Wise’s mid-market exchange rates and low fees could save you time and money when sending funds overseas. They'll internationally wire transfer my 25k with a $45 dollar fee. If Lauren chooses Wise, not only will she save about 20 on transfer fees, but she’ll also put down 131.75 more Canadian dollars on that dream cabin in the woods. Anyway, after filtering through 3 different wire transfer services I realized Bank of America (where my $ is) seems to be the cheapest. I have usually sent smaller amount through Xoom but when I decided to send this heftier sum, they asked for my passport, SSN, income, last deposits slips and a whole set of other stuff I was not okay with sending (others have complained of this too w/ Xoom). So I am looking to transfer 25k to my account in Brazil.
